Welcome to the world of Go! Paintings...This has been a side project of mine over the past year in my sketch pad. I didn't know when to start them, but figured now was as good of a time as any. I had a week that was one of those weeks you just don't want to repeat, ever again, and thought I needed something playful to do. Voila!
Go! Paintings are about exploring space with the line. I have been looking at the uses of the line this past year. Loved the idea of dominoes also, you know, those shows on T.V. when the dominoes would start to topple and go through many incarnations before finishing. It is the same with the Go! Paintings, you can follow the line from the beginning to the end of the canvas. It is really about man and womans connection to all things or the interconnectedness of life. The backgrounds are special too and am still trying to work them out, but chose the idea from my "Symphonic Heartbeats" sets.
Have been looking at Joan Miro's work lately and these paintings are dedicated to him. I am still fascinated and inspired by the Paris Art scene from 1914-20's. Hope these Go! Painting can be a homage to that time and go a step further with my intention behind them. Also, note that the line drawings with the oil paint pen were drawn 4-8 times to get the depth and color correct. Was also awake for two days straight through the main part of these paintings.
Enjoy and I have dozens of them sketched out and ready for the canvas. Remember, all of my paintings are for sale, except the first " Go! Painting #1" because it already has a home. Until later then.
