"Light Alphabet"
Acrylic on Canvas 14" x 18"
Welcome to the New Age everyone! This is the beginning of balance, between the light and the dark forces of nature. Plus, it just looks really cool too. This was my project last week to give everyone a clear image of the letters to decifer from. I wasn't going to leave you hanging. Oh, it glows a bit because I used silver paint with white to make it luminescent in the light.
These symbols are derived from the circle, square, rectangle, and triangle. They flew out of me on my return trip from Philadelphia and New York City. Actually, I thank the Manhattan Bridge for a moment of realization before plummeting back down into Brooklyn. The images came to me on the Pennsylvania Turnpike though. You would never think, huh? But remember this is all from Native American Lands. Whether it be city, country, or mountains, etc... I like to combine the modern or abstract with history. Guess, it would be like Goa music, techno with ancient Hindu chants. Instead, it is ancient hieroglyphs with modern Art, my own brand. Then I'd like to thank Columbus for being my incubator and place to produce this Art. A lot of time was spent on my couch has also helped me work through the problem solving for this project while I worked in my sketch book. So now it is time to enjoy the "Language of Light" and let's move into a different space, one of no biases and balance out! Until next time.
Peace and Energy,

" The Separation "
Acrylic on Canvas 18" x 24"
$500.00

This past weeks work produced " The Separation ". It is a painting based on a metaphysical truth and balance of the image. It is up to interpretation by the viewer and could have multiple meanings of what "The Separation" means. See what the Language of Light says and that will add to your appetite. This piece was a bit larger than what I am used to working with. Feel that's why it took so long to complete. It felt good to spend more time on my work, I'd like to do that more in my future, it is just that dilemna of work versus our true work on this Earth. You all know. Hope you enjoy this piece and it is dedicated to the memory of Giorgio de Chirico, one of my favorite Artists and trendsetters.

Just wanted to drop a line. I am painting again and trying to produce 3 new paintings this week. I am excited to see what happens. Then tend to be more Surrealist than the Abstract work I have done. You'll have to let me know. I just like taking ordinary objects and making them unordinary. So you'll get to see the other style I paint in. Have considered myself an Abstract and Surrealist Artist for years. I mean the Sun paintings and first cosmic alphabet paintings are all about trapping energy on the canvas. What would that thought or feeling look like energetically? That is so far away from society, we will see if people pick up on it. Have been told the original cosmic alphabet painting with 5 lines to them were like I painted a song or poem. I really like that idea. Until later then.

No need to explain these, just pure candy, on a cold mid-western winter's night. When nothing is going right in your life, with work, friends, love (what love, where?), in a country that is encouraging intolerance and hatred. So what do we need to go from here? It's more an acceptance and defiance of negativity around me. Must cont..in..ue fight..ing..

"Remembering the First Steps" Acrylic on Canvas 11" x 16"

Wow! I couldn't believe what came out of this group of 4 paintings. This was the darkest painting I have done in a long time. It was such a fury of colors, at least 12 before I put the "Light Alphabet" on it. Honestly, this painting shook me. The idea of the Forest came up when I stepped back from it after about an hour of throwing paint down. It only made sense, so then I remembered a time in my life, where I had to go somewhere I didn't want to go, and here we are. Back to this place or memory, that is hauntingly beautiful, like much of life, no? What I love is there is no intentional painting of trees or path, all the strokes are lines or smudges of some sort, that is the goal of abstraction, to make something not a tree look like a tree. Jackson Pollock was great at that so I dedicate this to him today.

Remembering the city I grew up in, like a distant memory, but always with me. This is a returning home painting where, what I was taught as a child is what I know. The times and place are very different here in Columbus, OH 2006 versus the 1980's in Philadelphia.

Medicine comes in all forms and Art is a medicine for everyone, Abstract Art is my way of applying tinctures to society, translate, baby, translate!

"Comforting the Wounded" Acrylic on Canvas 9" x 12"

This painting was different than any other I have done before, because when it was drying, it dried wrong so I pulled the broken pieces off and filled it in with the red for a look of blood or wounding. Love the swirl of colors with the red peeking through, to represent the mood of the message the symbols are speaking of.

Go to the "Light Alphabet" to decipher the images that are coming! Check this out.

What I love about being an Abstract Artist is the challenge of using shapes or colors to represent a physical item without it being that item or known object. That is the goal of a successful Abstract piece and if you take the metaphors of dark and light and circles in this one with the words, let me know what you "SEE".

Wow, what a couple of weeks! Finished 4 paintings over last weekend. I am so happy that they got finished. The images in my mind don't go away until they are painted and left on the canvas. It is similar to Chinese water torture sometimes, the paintings call me until they are done. Glad the weather was grappy for me to stay in over the weekend.

This "Language of Light" series I am working on is fascinating to me, it is part intuition and part focused intention. The colors came out darker than what I imagined but beautiful in their own right. Accidents are the best for a painting sometimes, no? Felt I could let loose a little and relax into this process instead of it being manufactured. Think Art is suppose to be FREE! Don't feel corporate about myself and the ways I go about things, think that is the problem with today. There is more to American Culture than Corporate Culture for a model to be, think, and feel. No this isn't an attack it is just a return or reminder that the Art process is organic not produced on a conveyor belt. Hope you all can see the angle I have on my creation process. Organic not competitive.

Had a couple surprises. My backgrounds became shapes to hold the lettering or symbols. Love the idea of painting in shapes with symbols, that means something. Second, my "Forest" painting was a surprise and guided me. It was a splash of painting that went on for over an hour and I had to clean up the wall behind my eisle, afterwards. Some good dance music didn't hurt either! It was a blast, that turned into something more deep and appealing. Feel it is important for an Artist to put their life experiences into their work also, not just jabs at society and feel my "Forest" painting did that. It left and eerie, haunting feeling for me that is mysteriously inviting. Like the hotties at the bar that always go home with the wrong guy, or do they?

Until later then,
