In the beginning of this project....
I wanted to thank my Brother Aaron for suggesting to do a blog and his enthusiasm for the media. I gave two of these paintings to my brother and father. It was kind of an opening for me. I also want to thank my sister, Rachel, for being there for me in the past few years and her support of my Art as well.

So how did I paint these images? They are acryllic on canvas with a gesso base for primer but the last four titled with "Frequency 1120 Pt.1-3, and Distant Frequency 50" have a modelling paste primer base for some texture. I think I liked the idea of texture more than how it turned out for me, but still loved making them. I prefer the look of the gesso base smoothe surface with the matte finish that acryllics give. Didn't want a glossy look to these, like the dry and in your face no hiding, attitude they bring about.

The first 8 then were done without the modeling paste. As far as the Sun Paintings, I had a fun mess on my hands. I painted really thick and put acryllic gel in it also to leave a glossy look. The outcome was perfect to have a matte and glossy look with texture. It just screams Art Book for future generations. Not only did I love producing them but the subject matter was amazing! Then you have the Sun you have the Creator or Tao. Whichever you prefer. I felt something go through my bones with that series of 20 paintings produced in Jan and Feb of 2004. Sometimes the dark of winter produces a lot of light! Plus who wants to go out in the Midwest during those months anyway... Well gotta go, that's it for me today. Until next time.
