This was one of the most amazing Art projects I have been involved with. The picture at the top is with myself and Doug the Artist who put this together. He said it took 1.5 months for the whole project to be completed. I came in one day before and helped put the mirrors on with a small army of other local artists as well. Doug said over 20 people worked on it in the end and it was a blast hanging out at Skylab on a hot August afternoon. We talked about writers, film, and someone sang while playing his guitar, and a woman brought pink cupcakes for us to munch on while working. I felt a strange connection with this group of relative strangers, but with Artists we always have an instantaneous connection with each other. The scope of this project was "ambitious" and should be remembered as a moment in Columbus Art history. I thought the idea would be too kitchy but it came out really beautiful with all the light emanating from it. The pictures don't show the rays of light coming from Mary and Christ's body. It did produce a feeling of awe and faith. "The Pieta" became luminescent or etheric at the back of the gallery space. It was hidden and you had to walk through a cave with a lot of candles to get to this spiritual entity. Just amazing! I was happy to be part of such a special project, thanks Doug! -Joshua 2006
